FLASH "SOLOS!"
Hi Christie and Matthew,
Well, it finally stopped raining yesterday and I was able to resume Flash' training.
I would have liked to lunge him, but it was still a little damp underfoot. So I rode him in the arena a
little, working on getting him right out to the long sides and making transitions.
He was as calm as usual. The only thing that his little "holiday" has done is let him put on a bit more
weight!
Then I took him out for his first "solo" ride. He was not overly concerned that he was leaving his
friends, and quietly walked off along the road towards the bridge. He was not as forward as he has been
when going out with either human or equine company, but he quickly settled and we had a pleasant stroll as
far as the bridge and back, stopping several times along the way and asking him to stand quietly. Of
course he was polite and stood sensibly, while I gave him a pat and talked to him.
Only a short ride, but a big milestone in terms of testing his obedience and confidence. He passed with
flying colours!
Next: we go a little further and trot.
Cheers,
Lisa
